"The Man"

Lights up.
A REPORTER is holding a microphone and
speaking to the camera.
REPORTER
Thanks Carl. I'm here at Echo Park where there was quite a
spectacle earlier this afternoon. In a rare public appearance
it seems The Man attempted to incite a riot. Witnesses say
that he boasted repeatedly that he kept everyone from their
human potential. One witness quoted him saying:
(deadpan from a notepad)
"I complicate the system and deny you access to a better
life. I am The Man. So come on, kick my ass. Are you scared?
I think you are. Come on. Hit me. I want you to. What's
wrong, no backbone? You are all pathetic. You deserve
everything I've done to you."
(back to the camera)
Alex Lorca witnessed the event. Alex, what did you see?
ALEX has approached and leans in toward the
microphone as the REPORTER holds it out.
ALEX
Well, he had this t-shirt. On the front it said 'I am The
Man' and on the back it said 'And F you all.' Only not 'F'
you know? He was talkin' all kinds of smack but nobody did
nothing. I was gonna kick his butt, but my little girl was
there and she cries every time I hit... someone.
REPORTER
Thanks Alex.
ALEX
Thank you.
ALEX goes.
REPORTER
The LA County Police Department initially vowed to bring him
to justice, but later said that because he did not physically
harm anyone, they would dismiss the case. This is Lisa Chase
live from Echo Park, back to you Carl.
