Puppet Piece

"September 20th, I have a note that I did my puppet piece. I no longer have any idea of what the text of the piece was, but the puppet was a child's suit I'd bought at the good will which I'd sewn together into a kind of slip on costume attached to black pants and turtleneck. Sewn to the collar of the shirt of the child's suit was a head made in the same way as the Geese Company half masks, but this was a whole head. Wearing the thing, it looked like there was a little man attached to my front. I'd hoped my black parts would blend in with the curtain. Is it possible that this is what Carolyn meant by the "Soft sculpture thing"? [q.v. Sept 13, 1991 ---ed.] The suit was stuffed with cotton batting, so that the little man looked fat so the suit part would be soft and the head, all painted up and everything would look like a sculpture."
