The No Shame Theme Song

(Howard Dean Version)

music by Jonathan Price

new lyrics by Scott McGee

The week was passing quickly. I had to write a scene.
I thought of one involving that… crazy Howard Dean.
It’d be a little send-up of the presidential race.
Whenever someone spoke to him, he’d scream right in their face.

No Shame Theatre (No Shame Theatre)
He’d be so irate!
No Shame Theatre (No Shame Theatre)
He’d scream about every state… including California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Nevada… then we’re gonna out east and get Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont… then down south to Mississippi, Georgia…

(He continues his rant naming off state until the "Producer" comes up and tries to stop him. He yells at the "Producer" and then starts to continue again. The "Producer" then suggests that he calm down and continue with the song. "Howard Dean" yells a triumphant yelp and then calms down. The "Producer" then leaves the stage as the song continues.)

I sat back down to write the piece, but I quickly found —
It was just a one-joke scene. It wasn’t very sound.
I agonized about it for several hours more,
And soon I heard ol’ Writer’s Block knocking at my door.

No Shame Theatre (No Shame Theatre)
Writer’s Block… sucks.
No Shame Theatre (No Shame Theatre)
Writer’s … Block… sucks…

With Writer’s Block behind me now, I realized all I had —
Was one lame joke with Howard Dean. Yeah, it was kind of sad.
But then I found the answer, and I knew I had been wrong.
I’d use the one joke that I had… in this No Shame song!

No Shame Theatre (No Shame Theatre)
I just slipped the joke inside.
No Shame Theatre (No Shame Theatre)
No Shame … don’t mean … No Pride.
