NO SHAME THEATER SONG

(The Scat Burglar Version)

lyrics by J.J. Hickey (c) 16 April 2003

In case you didn’t notice,

Our theme’s in 4/4 time.

The melody keeps marching,

And ending in a rhyme.

The beauty of a march is

Symmetrical and strong.

Four’s the perfect number

When composing a theme song.

(March Time–nice and strong)

No Shame Theater (No Shame Theater)

Four beats to the bar

No Shame Theater (No Shame Theater)

Anyone steals a beat, there’s gonna be war!

One day an evil sneak,

I’m not talking of George Bush,

Another one more sneaky

A burglar on the loose.

He crept into our archives

And rifled through our charts,

Stealing every fourth beat,

From every single bar.

(Waltz time–nice and lyrical and 3/4)

No Shame Theater (No Shame Theater)

It’s all that burglar’s fault!

No Shame Theater (No Shame Theater)

Our theme is now a waltz!

I hate that little burglar

I think that he’s a louse

For making me sing melodies

That play like Johann Strauss.

But wait, it doesn’t end there

He returned here one more time

He stole another beat

Making me sing in cut-time.

(Cut-time, 2/4)

No Shame Theater (No Shame Theater)

I’m singing now much faster

No Shame Theater (No Shame Theater)

If I ever get my hands on that burglar I’m gonna kill that fucking bastard

(audience sings faster, also in cut-time) Ha Ha Ha Ha.....

To add insult onto injury

And salt upon the wound

I hear his sneaky laughter

While singing our tune. (mockingly) He He He He ....

And then in broad daylight

He’s got balls like canteloupe

He cut our cut-time rhythm

And left us with one note !

(1/4 time–all the words sung on one beat)

Noshametheater (Noshametheater)

Theresnothingmoretosteal

Noshametheater (Noshametheater)

Thisnightmarecantbereal.

Here’s-a-little-epilogue

I-thought-he-wouldn’t-come

But-he-stole-our-friggin’-lyrics

Forcing-me-hum...

MMMMMM (mmmmmmm)

(through clenched teeth) hummings-for-the-birds!

MMMMMM (mmmmmmm)

(clenched) no-shame-don’t-mean-no-words!

(scats in 0/4 time–nice and freely)

Zee bop bop doo dah dit dit dah doodly dat

a skittly dittly bop.....dooo-wah! Ahhhhhh!
