No Shame Theatre Song

(made up version)

music by Jonathan Price

lyrics by Jeff Goode

[This is (approximately) the version performed at Piccolo Spoleto on June 5, 2004. Someone else had expected to write the lyrics for that day, but had to cancel at the last minute, so I roughed out this version right before the show. Not having time to finish the lyrics, though, I simply wrote out the rhyming words on post-it notes, and made up the couplets as we went along.]

I just found out 10 minutes ago we don't have a No Shame SONG
So I'm going to make it up as I go ALONG

I've sung this song so many times ... but never quite like THIS.
If you notice a wet spot on the front of my pants ... it's not what you think it IS.

No Shame Theatre
Right before your eyes.
No Shame Theatre
Try to act surprised.

So pardon if I ramble on the STAGE
You'll see why it's all THE RAGE

...It happens ON THE SPOT
...And sometimes IT HAPPENS NOT

No Shame Theatre
We always prevail.
No Shame Theatre
We always Dare to Fail
One more verse ... where you say "HA"
While I stammer, HEM AND HAW

I guess "Welcome" is all I have to SAY.
And Momma, since you're here tonight, I've been meaning to tell you this - I'M GAY.

No Shame Theatre
Don't knock it till you've tried.
No Shame Theatre
No Shame Don't Mean No Pride
