No Shame Theatre Song

Writer's Block version

music by Jonathan Price

lyrics by Jeff Goode

When I woke up this morning
Not a song was in my head.
[If] I'd had to choose 'tween writing then
And dying, I'd be dead.

But I grabbed a piece of paper
And a pen, and then some scotch
And as for just what happened next...
...you'll have to sit and watch.

No Shame Theatre
Home-made plays from scratch
No Shame Theatre
[Let's] make/have another batch

I first came up with nothing and.
Then not much followed it.
Before too long the page was filled
With not a single whit

I quickly grabbed another sheet
And didn't write on that
And soon the room was overflowed
With diddly fucking squat

No Shame Theatre
[There's] Really not much to it.
No Shame Theatre
Anyone could do it.
At last my masterwork was
not just finished but complete.
If you'd have laid it end-to-end
it might have reached the street

I'd one more thing to do before
I brought it to the stage.
I lopped off several thousand words.
And cut it to one page.

No Shame Theatre
To shame we just say NO
No Shame Theatre
It's time to start the show. [And now it's time to go.]
