"Lady Blue" a song

Lady Blue steps outside into a brand new day
But the people walking down the street have nothing new to say
She tries to remember the night before - her eyes are carved quite weary
She slept with Rip Van Winkle and time got a little dreary

Lady Blue looks around and says, "Oh what is going on?"
Well come on... Lady Blue
I got a shoulder to hang on

Innocence playing hopscotch in a minefield of reality
Blue stumbled form various lovers who tried to poison her with their vanity
How we met I'm not too sure for it all became a blur
I was addicted to escapism - mistaking it for a cure

Lady Blue says to me, "Man, where did you come from?"
Well come on... Lady Blue
I got a shoulder to lean on

When you came to see me I disguised my simplicity with lies
Now I'm not sure what to do when the magic dies
I've broken all my mirrors - I've got cancer from all this smoke
Lying like a crumpled letter - I'm just looking like a joke

Lady Blue says to me, "Man what have you become?"
Well come on... Lady Blue
I got a shoulder to beat on

Monday night you spat at me - practically death wishes
But by Tuesday evening you were killing me with kisses
I turned on the T.V. and I could not believe my eyes
There were so many innocent... so many lives

Lady Blue sits beside me and says, "Oh, what have we done?"
Well come on... Lady Blue
I've got a shoulder to cry on

I opened up the newspaper and oh what did I find
Politicians and con-artist taking advantage of the times
Are false sense of security's gone - the house of cards has fallen
Illusions crumble to anarchy and a brave new world is calling

And Lady Blue pleads to the void, "enough people have died"
Well come on... Lady Blue
I got a shoulder to stand beside

I'm afraid I can't talk to you old friend - our races are at war
And isn't it amazing all things that people will kill for?
I'll never understand why people want to make the world more complicated
Though I really don't know who by I think the whole worlds being manipulated

And Lady Blue could I spend the night?
Please don't jump to conclusions...
It's just sometimes... Lady Blue
I need a shoulder to cry on

Everywhere I look someone's trying to tell me how to feel and what to do
An eleven year old pulls on my coat and asks, "I should kill who?"
I look up from my books...
They're still trying to get the blood off the classroom walls
As the intercom preachers echo..."murder!" through the halls

And when the whole world feels like it's a pain marathon
Well come on... Lady Blue
I got a shoulder to cry on

Well come on... Lady Blue
I got a shoulder to cry on

Lady Blue steps outside into a brand new day
And all the people walking down the street - they have so much to say
She gets into her car and drives off towards a tarnished horizon
Where it is she's going - she stops to tell no one

She leaves a letter by the bed that says, "I'm but sorry I've got to run...
But please... don't worry
The story's only just begun"
