Dragonflies copyright 2000, Nozebone the Band

When the sun goes down and the neon comes up
And the frat boys fill their plastic cups
By the buzzing neon on in the windowpane
They were all drawn in like a moth to a flame.

And the buzzing neon burns them up one by one
Like dragonflies on your neighbor's lawn.

Falling to the floor with their skulls caved in
But still buying drinks for their underage friends.
Flapping their wings, trying to make a display,
They'll hit you in the face if they think that you're gay.

The dragonflies die in the bar tonight.
Arguing, posing, starting a fight.
The dragonflies reek and their dragony breath:
Their liquor soaked faces and their crystal meth.

To a dragonfly's eyes, your ass is your face,
And the grinding of hips is a gentle embrace.
And there is no "no" to a dragonfly's ear,
So the easiest "yes" is a drug in your beer.

So just tell me how much better I am.
I'm no date raping drunkard, no creep like him.
I'm not the one that had you cornered and creeped out.
I'm not a dragonfly but I've still got some doubts.

I've never once tried to stop their attacks.
Or let them in on the way that a grown-up should act.
I've never tried to get in their face
And it burns like hell to put myself in your place
