Friday, June 20th, 2003 - [Live Arts B]

Problems:
Show started late because 1/2 the pieces arrived 5 min before start.
New stage manager who took a little too long to start the show. (But did a good job otherwise)
People "in charge" forgot to take notes on who all of the performers were.
One of those "in charge" promised to post the order but got swamped and didn't post until Thursday.
An audience member blurted out what happens in the new Harry Potter book and was booed (rightly so)

Successes:
Very large audience.
Full line up.
Great show, which is all that matters in the end.

3. If you need to make a copies of your piece from the Archive (one for yourself, one for the light board operator), get there early. It's best if you come with your own copies as usual, but the copier should be available if the power is on.

Thursday, October 23rd
I took a look at the Lab today -- it will be a very interesting venue for tomorrow night's show. Who knew there was a giant mirror running along the wall behind the platforms where the tech booth used to be? I could almost wish we'd be having more than one show in this configuration -- I'm sure there are some No Shame writers who could come up with some creative uses of the space. ---Ursula

"So, what happened was, our host theatre in Charlottesville moved. In the last week before the move, the space had pretty much been gutted and there was no power. Even if we'd had power, there were no lighting instruments, no sound board, no risers, nothing. Though we did manage to rustle up some chairs. Rather than break our streak of I don't know how many Fridays in a row in that space (*NO* Fridays missed in over 3 years at that point, I think), we decided we could do it by flashlight. Several regulars brought flashlights and other lighted devices (I think there some glow in the dark pens) and we had a couple extra flashlights to give new people. It wasn't the strongest night of No Shame ever, but due to some pieces that were written with the flashlight motif in mind, it went over really well. And after that we had Flashlight No Shame on every 5th Friday of a month. So, probably 2 or 3 more times before we folded. Including one time when the belly dancing class visited -- that was cool. They had their own music, but the lights were all flashlights."
